Snowpocalypse Now

I'm just posting this as more of a journal entry then a post but, feel free to read along while I type.
Today was Tuesday, the day I'm in the salon. I was very grateful that I had a full day because last monday I was worried I wouldn't have any clients and I already had most of the week off. I know most people wouldn't complain about not having work but, not working means no pay. So, needless to say, I woke up in the morning very happy to be going to the salon at 9am for my first client.
I was getting ready for work, through on the same outfit I had on the day before because it was a cute outfit and I only had it on for a few hours. I took a look at my hair in the mirror and realized I've come a long way in life. I know it's kind of silly to say this but, for most of my life I hated, no loathed my hair. Now it's something i get the most compliments on. It's long and soft and I'm so proud of it. I'm trying something most colorists don't attempt and that's to grow it out to my natural color. I haven't been this color all over since age 13 and I'd like to see what it looks like for a while before I have to color it for grey coverage instead of fun or boredom. Luckily it's a very "In" look to have grown out roots.
All this week I've been hearing about this huge blizzard that's coming out way today and they were advising people to be off the road by 3pm. I had clients scheduled from 9am-8pm so I wondered if that would affect my schedule at all. The weather seemed very "utah november" meaning the sky was grey but there wasn't anything really going on. Although there is a saying here called "if you don't like the weather wait 20 minutes". I had scheduled myself an hour lunch break so I could run errands and still the weather wasn't changing.
I got back to the salon in time for Katie my sister in law to come. We talked about the weather and all the hype of how bad it was going to be. I told her I felt like this storm was the dreaded storm they talk about in the animated Christmas classic Rudolph the Rednosed Reindeer. You all know what I'm talking about.

Long story short the day continued and still nothing. Kristy came to get her hair done and around 6 we had heard on facebook that it had hit Ogden. Also we had heard it lovingly referred to as "snowpocalypse" I thought it was pretty clever. At 7pm we could see the wind picking up and the snow flurries starting. We left at about 7:30 the wind was pretty strong and it seemed just like another day of snow. When we got onto state street there were hardly any cars and you really couldn't see much. Poor Kristy led the way in her car and could hardly see anything. The drive home was quite exhilarating. I actually chuckled to myself because all day long I had been mocking the storm. The worst part came after I parked my car in the garage and walked back to my building. The wind was blowing so hard that all the snow was coming right into my face. I could hardly see my hand in front of my face. There are a few flights of stairs I have to walk up to get home and I almost completely fell as I had missed the last snow covered step. I also laughed very loudly at that. I was really glad to finally make it home safe and sound.
I don't know why I really felt the need to write about this. It was just a funny day. Nothing happened but, I think I'd like to remember this day.
My real hope was in thinking that if I had a special someone this would be the perfect time to get "stranded" at their house. I'm at my own house right now and the lucky suitor is no where to be found. This day would have been perfect to be stranded with someone, put some nice soup on the stove and cuddle up while watching a movie. That would have made this day so much better. Alas, that didn't happen today but, mark my words by Snowpocalypse 2011 I'll have someone to get stranded with.

Hey there. It's Thanksgiving day and we are waiting for Dad to get home to eat the dinner I have slaved over for the past 2 days. It's very cold here and they are predicting freezing rain for the weekend. Don't feel bad about not being home right now. We will have the best time when you come home for Christmas!

Love...Mom

We all had a good chuckle in Provo cause basically nothing happened here...no snow, a little wind...just cold...I was all excited to take Brooklyn out and play in the snow on Wednesday, and we had nothing...
