Note to self:

Why hello out there in blogger land to all my followers, if I have any left that is. So, I have been reflecting a lot lately on myself and some of my habits. One habit I have is to come up with really good ideas. I come up with them all the time. Good ones at that. I had an idea to make a shampoo bowls have deeper basins that way long hair doesn't get tangled in it. All you long haired people who have ever been to a salon are saying "oh yea, that is a great idea!" I know, because it is. Or I had an idea to make a tiny on the go iron that was kind of shaped like a your hand making a "c" shape kind of like a clam, that you could put your hand in and "clamp" iron your clothes while wearing them. Also another very good idea. Another idea I had was to write a book. Yes, me, writing a book. A non fiction. A book about changing your hair color and changing your attitudes to match the hair color. (if anyone reads this and steals my IDEA.... please at least dedicate the book to me.) I was so excited about this idea. It was going to happen! It was going to be a hit! I was going to devote all my free time to this book. And... reality hit and it didn't happen. I think I like the idea of coming up with ideas rather than executing them. It makes me feel creative and alive. Why don't I actually do any of the things I think about doing? I don't have an answer I just really wonder that from time to time.
My post today is actually about another idea I had. It's another book idea. Often times I've come home from a date and I tell my friends and roommates what went down and I've heard this phrase on several occasions "You should write a book about this" It would be fun to write about some dating experiences I've had but, who would read it? I think this to myself all the time. Who would read it? Would you? This very question let to an interesting conversation at work today. "why don't you blog about your dating experiences" one friend says to me. "30 dates in 30 days" I said I couldn't possibly think of 30 dates to write about in 30 days and I certainly couldn't find the time to write about one a day. (I mean really, I haven't blogged since May)
I can however tell you a few of the good ones. Maybe by me telling you about them it will help me to actually make one of my ideas actually come true. Or maybe, you'll get a good laugh, tell your spouse about it and go to bed feeling very happy that you're not the single one anyone. For the purpose of shock and awe I'm only going to write the bad, the strange and the crazy. Just note that I have had many good experiences dating. More good than bad. But, the good ones don't make me ask myself "is this real life" And, for those of you who are old roommates or have known me for a long time, if I've left anything out, please feel free to refresh my memory. Some moments in my life I have purposely forgotten but, I'll risk having them brought back to recollection for the sake of this little activity.
Ok, so now that I've made you read this whole long introduction I'm going to leave you with a story. This isn't quite a true "dating" story but, it's a gem. It's very recent and therefore very fresh in my mind. This may have been the inspiration for the whole thing. (side note from author; Mom, I'm not sure if Talia told you about this. This may be the first time you're hearing of it...)
I'm going to protect the names of the not so innocent here. Not sure why, I just don't want this to come back and haunt me. So all the names of people and places are made up but the experience is real;
December 30th, 2011 I arrive at the Portland airport around 8:30am I had showered the night before so that I could just roll out of bed in the morning. I hadn't done my hair at all, I hadn't even put on a drop of make up. I was planning on reading "Eat, Pray, Love" on the flight so my glasses were on in preparation. I have my ipod in with my new head phones I'd gotten for Christmas. An announcement comes over the intercome about my flight that wasn't due to leave for nearly 2 more hours. I turn my ipod off to hear. They're saying that our plane needs a new windshield wiper and they won't be able to get the part in for a few hours, delaying our flight until 1:30pm that day! I'm frantically texting my ride to see if changes of plans would affect if she could give me a ride or not, my sister telling her that because I gave my bags to sky cap and it seemed too easy that I was being cursed for it, my friend who would be coming to the airport in a few hours seeing if we could hang out while I waited and my guy, complaining to him about how annoying this all is and maybe he could come pick me up at the newly scheduled time. The announcement and all the texting took place in about 15 minutes before they got on the intercom telling us this was a false alarm and that our flight would continue as normal. When our flight was to be delayed they had promised us $5o food vouchers. So, after the news of having our flight be normal I turned to the guy on my right and said, "Don't you think they should let us have the $5o vouchers for all this trouble?" He agreed and introduced himself to me as Randy. (remember I changed his name?) So Randy tells me he spend Christmas in Portland with family and was on his way back to D.C where he had been living. (also made up, I'm not telling you where he was from) I told him that SLC was my final destination and he had mentioned he used to live there. We got talking about him living back east and I had mentioned how I'd always wanted to go there. I hear they have great food and shopping there. I mentioned there was a tiny chance of me going there this year. Now, I observed Randy and was given this impression-Randy is gay. He was dressed very east coast prep, complete with a wool belted cardigan, slender jeans and those shoes that look a little like moccasins. He told me of some great places to shop for men's clothing. It was time for me to board the plane and Randy asked me for my email address. I wondered if that was something gay guys do when they meet a cool girl that could be a shopping buddy. I proceeded to give him my email. Like any good person who rides a plane, I turned off my cell phone. I enjoyed the flight while reading "Eat, Pray, Love" and thought nothing more of Randy who was somewhere in the front of the plane.
When I got home I had checked my email and there was a message from him " It was nice meeting you hope you have a safe flight" I replied "It was nice meeting you too. I'm safe and sound back home. I hope you have a safe trip and that you make all your connections on time" A few hours later I received this from him, "Are you really coming to D.C?" I say, "I'm not sure, nothing is set in stone but, it's always been a dream of mine." Then I read this email which makes me rethink how I see people. " I would love to see you if you do, you are gorgeous" he says. OK, what? not what I was expecting. Wasn't he gay? That was sure a nice thing to say. I think a gay man can appreciate the beauty of a woman. Right? I don't respond because I'm not sure what to say. "So, he was hitting on me?" I keep asking myself while replaying our 10 minute conversation in my head. After not hearing from me for a few hours he sends me this, "Too forward?" At this point I'm feeling a little guilty. He was just being nice. I had wrongfully judged him. I replied to him explaining how I was flattered because I had just rolled out of bed and felt gross. I let him know I'm dating someone and I think that was very brave and nice of him to say.
He didn't seem to be bothered by my information that I'm seeing someone already. He let me know that he too was "connected" and that we could have our own "little thing" I respond that he got the wrong impression of me and I'm not interested in being any type of "thing" with a guy who is involved with someone else and that I'm happy being with my guy and that I didn't know he was even hitting on me.
He didn't email me for a few days and when he did he complimented me on my beauty and apologized for offending me. He just wanted to get to know the cute, fun girl he saw in me that one meet and greet so many hours ago. I mentioned to him that I still was unaware of what he meant by being "connected" and joked around that he must be married. He wrote back a few days later with two words, "I'm Married" when I asked if he was joking he said "I would never do that to you" He would never lie to a stranger but, he'd lie to his wife? Something isn't right there. The little stinker in my sent out the next email that said exactly this, "are you by chance married to a man" to which he replied "LOL, Absolutely Not. LOL" I'd really had enough of Randy and his cheating ways. I didn't respond. His last message to me was a week ago saying "How is your day going" And I sent him the last message I'll ever send him, "Does your wife know you are emailing me?"
I haven't heard from Randy. It's been a week now and I'm ok. What a dirt bag! I can't believe guys like this exist.

ok, so that's it. Story #1 of many more to come. Please leave any comments, feedback or person experiences for me! Until we meet again,

-Kellyanne
